Three new social media features have been added to the profile form on the ILTA Connected Community site:
1. Import Profile Info from LinkedIn
This link will allow you to pull certain information from your LinkedIn profile into your Connected Community profile. You will be presented with a grid that shows your picture, bio, job history and education info from LinkedIn and the Connected Community and give you the option to pull each of those items from LinkedIn into the Connected Community. Simply check off the boxes next to the information you wish to import. If the data already matches exactly, that will be indicated (as you can see with the job history and education info below).
Upon clicking the Save and Continue button at the bottom of the page, you’ll be taken to a page that lists people with a profile in the ILTA Connected Community as compared to your lists of contacts in LinkedIn – so that you can review and confirm if they are the same and send them a contact request if you want to:
2. Social Media Links
You can provide links to your profiles on various other social media sites, including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter as well as any blog site you have. Click each item that you’d like to provide a link to, and enter the full URL of your profile on that site (such as http://www.linkedin.com/in/yourname) A green check mark will then appear next to each link you've added.
As ILTA members search and view your profile - only the links you've added will appear to them. Also by default these links will only appear to ILTA members, you can always modify who can see these links (or any of your information) by updating your privacy settings
3. Twitter Tweets
You have the option to display your recent tweets on Twitter directly on your Connected Community profile. Click the “Share your tweets from Twitter” link and enter your Twitter username. You have the option to feed all of your tweets or just the ones with the ILTA hashtag or another hashtag if you like.
When you’re done, there may be a slight delay before the site initially displays your Tweets. Once it’s in place, it’ll look something like this:
