How to Leverage Your LinkedIn Post

Publishing on the LinkedIn publishing platform provides a great way to get your original or repurposed content in front of your LinkedIn network and potentially to others on LinkedIn.  Not only can you extend the digital reach of your content, you are able to build your network and use your content to build your brand awareness and develop relationships which can lead to opportunities.  The important thing to remember is that developing those relationships and potential opportunities takes time.

Here are some ways to leverage your posts:

Share

Posting an update to your home page is a good start.  It is also important to share your posts as discussions in your LinkedIn groups.  Post to your groups throughout the week to extend the reach to various audiences who may not be connected to you.  To build up the level of engagement, you might even ask members of the group to comment.

Review

Review the likes and comments to see what individuals are engaging with your posts. This only takes a few minutes to identify if there are contacts you would like to develop better relationships with, and hopefully create potential opportunities.  View their LinkedIn profile and see if you are in any mutual LinkedIn groups. (LinkedIn groups allow you to invite someone to connect without knowing their contact information)

This review might also show you some LinkedIn groups that your target contacts are active in that you might want to join.

Connect

Once you identify target contacts who are in your LinkedIn groups, invite them to connect.  Customize the LinkedIn invite to thank them for engaging with your post and telling them what group you both belong to.

Engage

Engage with your connections or group members by liking, commenting and sharing their content.  The more you engage, the more who will begin to engage with you.
