It's not too late to join the conversation

ILTA INSIGHT is now less than two weeks away but we’re still working hard to make this, our ninth outing in London, our best yet. The exhibition sold out long ago and registrations continue to roll in, so please don’t miss out – get yourself registered, join the conversation and enjoy the pre-eminent educational programme for C-level, Director and Manager Technologists, Litigation Support Managers, KM Specialists, Technical Architects, Business Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts.

Sweet Sixteen

This year we are running 16 sessions across four streams, Strategy, Technical, Knowledge Management and Litigation Support. The hallmark of all ILTA content is that it is peer-developed and delivered, so you are guaranteed topics that have real relevance to you right now. You’re obviously free to go as you please on the day but it is still worth taking a good look at the complete conference programme to ensure you make the best of your time with us.

The session line-up complete with synopses can be viewed here – http://www.insight.iltanet.org/#agenda

Session pick - Strategy

It’s a real buzz topic at the minute so we’re delighted to have ‘Matter Center for Office 365’ finalising our strategy stream.

Synopsis: Matter Center for Office 365 is Microsoft’s new legal document management system, based on SharePoint. In this session, top law firms will share how they are utilizing SharePoint and Office 365 to replace traditional DMS tools, enabling content management functionality without ever leaving the applications users are used to working in — such as Microsoft Outlook and Word. IT and business leaders from these firms will discuss challenges and their visions of collaboration and knowledge-sharing for the future. We will discuss real matter-centric user experiences, predictive content discovery, records integration, knowledge management and document life cycle workflow solutions that can help CIOs satisfy legal, IT and compliance requirements.

Session pick - Technical

The Technical stream is packed full of stimulating content but we reckon ‘Using the Cloud To Fill the Void Between the Business and the IT Department’ might be its most popular session.

Synopsis: Law firms typically have a high proportion of staff focused on operational activities, but whilst effective operational IT management is seen as good practice, it’s not a differentiator. However, using technology in an innovative way can make the difference, as it can assist lawyers in working more efficiently and enhancing client relationships. Is it possible to shift the direction of the IT department away from operational activities and align its delivery to the needs and demands of the business? Of course! See how the adoption of cloud computing can provide the opportunity to realign the IT resources and services you provide to truly support the lawyers in your firm. Shift the focus of your IT department away from "keeping the lights on" to being a true advisor.

Session pick - Knowledge Management

We’re not going to pick just one of the KM sessions as the three together will give you the very latest thinking and strategy around today’s KM challenges:

Are Law Firms Meeting the Commercial Requirements of Clients?
• Restructuring the Work (KM and Matter Management)
• KM for Business Strategy

Session pick - Litigation Support

This gets our award for the best session title – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It’s bound to pique interest in a stream that is always well attended and vigorously debated.

Synopsis: Join our panel of experts in discussions around a multitude of issues we all face, including working with audio files, producing redacted spreadsheets in native form, handling odd file types (e.g., CAD), managing a review of Bloomberg, collection of social media, imposing a legal hold on intranet sites and much more!

Final reminder

So one last time, here’s what you need to know. INSIGHT 2014 takes places on Thursday 13th November at 155 Bishopsgate, London. Registration opens at 9.00am and you are free to register on the day itself. As well as the 16 session programme, there’s a chance to network with peers, meet up with vendors and relax at the end of the day at our evening reception. But most importantly remember that:

• INSIGHT is absolutely free for anyone working in a law firm or in-house legal department – there is no registration fee
• You don’t have to be an ILTA member to attend – but it’s a great opportunity to find our more about the benefits of membership
• It’s a fantastic event in the legal calendar so tell your friends!
