Members recently discussed the iManage buy-out, choosing the right consultant and more. Explore curated sources on these topics including some from ILTA’s treasure chest.

IMANAGE

On July 21st, iManage leadership announced the completion of a buy-out from Hewlett-Packard. ILTA will host an iManage webinar on Tuesday, August 4th, “The New, Independent iManage – What it Means for Legal IT.” In the “Rebirth of iManage,” Cheryl McKinnon speculates that customers will see improvements in current products and user experience and still maintain compatibility with HP products. Legal IT Insider interviewed Dan Carmel, iManage’s new Chief Marketing Officer, in “The Boys Are Back in Town as Team iManage Complete Management Buy-out from HP.”  Carmel discussed an R&D project, White Rabbit, designed to keep work product management tools evolving. iManage’s White Rabbit project emphasizes “simplicity, flexibility, agility, and security.”

CHOOSING THE RIGHT CONSULTANT

ILTA members often seek recommendations for consultants and products in the discussion groups.  A recommendation from someone you know and respect goes a long way. However, what’s right for one organization may not be right for another. Are there best practices when vetting consultants? Interestingly, consultants write most of the articles on choosing a consultant. Consultant Jinesh Parekh wrote one of the better ones, “Dirty Secrets of Consulting Firms and How to Choose One.” Also consider Shailesh Joshi’s list, “Six Technology Consultant Evaluation Tips.” The October 2014 ILTA white paper on business and financial management provides insight on vendors assigning a consultant to you. SOMETHING EXTRA –ILTACON 2015, SURFACE PRO, OFFICE 365 AND MORE

ILTACON 2015 has a day of programming planned for corporate law department attendees. For information on the programming and registration see the Law Department Day page.

In a past issue of “But Wait… There’s More” I mentioned Sheri Martinez’s blog on moving from laptops to Surface Pro. If Sheri’s post sparked a conversation in your office, consider attending "Deploying and Supporting Microsoft Surface Devices" at ILTACON 2015 on Tuesday, September 1.

According to a recent report from Skyhigh Networks, 87.3% of organizations surveyed adopted Office 365’s cloud-based services. Take a deeper dive into Office 365 with ILTA members Tim Hooks and Lyle McIntosh in Office 365 Conversations. Each lasts between 25 and 45 minutes. In May 2015, the sessions included OneDrive Explained and Licensing. In June and July sessions on Exchange Online and SharePoint Online Administration became available. Watch for more Office 365 Conversations on the ILTA Connected Community in the future.

A few weeks ago I wrote about new office space design. ILTA member Beau Mersereau has since provided more photos to share with the whole ILTA community. To see his new office space design see these shared files in the ILTA Connected Community. Thank you, Beau!

As ILTA’s content curator, I’m always monitoring the discussion forums to discover what topics are top-of-mind among the members. Each week, I focus on a few areas that spark your interest, and I provide some curated resources to assist your own information-gathering on the topics. If there are specific topics you would like assistance exploring, please contact me at joanne@iltanet.org.
