The Agile Approach to Software Development - Taking a Closer Look

Lunch Sponsor: CC Pace

Description:
In the highly competitive legal services industry, it's no secret that software can set you apart from the rest. Effectively developed and deployed, custom software can reduce in-house costs, provide enhanced and timelier service to clients, and differentiate you from your competitors. However, many firms find themselves frustrated with a development project that is over budget and/or behind schedule, and end up with a lot of functionality that adds no value -- but certainly adds to the final cost of the project.

Due to these factors and more, the popularity of Agile methodologies has skyrocketed over the last decade. Among other things, Agile development reduces risks, increases transparency and ultimately gives you a final product that has a better chance of being on-time, under budget and without all the pricy unnecessary functionality.

This overview will lend a better understanding of why so many development projects are 'going Agile'. You'll learn the differences between Agile and traditional development practices and get a sense of the history and framework. Roles, challenges and team dynamics that impact the traditional development mindset will be addressed, and we will also look at the role Agile development has played in firms within the legal industry.
