Cleveland Roadshow: Uniform Scanning from Anywhere

When:  Apr 16, 2014 from 12:00 to 13:30 (ET)

Uniform Scanning from Anywhere

Lunch Sponsored by: nQueue Billback

Description:
As law firms receive and create documents every day, paper continues to pile up, creating overstuffed file rooms, expensive offsite storage and difficulty with sharing documents. Meanwhile, the idea of remaining fully paper-based has been rendered untenable by the courts, many of which now require filing of documents electronically.

While the idea of finally accomplishing a giant bulk-scanning project someday and rendering the office "paperless" sounds worthwhile, it does not often rise to the top of firms' to-do list. However, the need to create efficiencies, along with the courts' e-filing initiatives, makes the implementation of a uniform scanning solution for active matters more urgent. Yet, the recent ILTA Technology Survey shows 34 percent of law firms do not have a scanning workflow solution.

Leading firms are finding substantial return on investment from unified scanning, which allows scans to be routed instantly from any of the firm's MFDs, regardless of brand. Unified scanning makes it easy for attorneys and staff to follow their firm's scanning and information governance protocols automatically, including those in place to support e-filing.

This session will focus on the challenges and opportunities of unified scanning programs, including:

  • Specific strategies for meeting all jurisdictional requirements efficiently and with reduced errors
  • Developing workflows and technologies that mirror how the firms' professionals are used to working
  • Simplifying scanning, despite a variety of devices throughout the firm
  • Including management of branch offices
  • Integrated cost recovery possibilities
  • Enhanced and streamlined workflows that deliver:
    • Increased efficiency
    • Sharing of documents
    • Easier document retrieval
  • Ability to use electronic search tools to find documents
  • Better use of real estate and reduced costs from offsite record storage
